Elon Musk to top the list of the world's richest people in 2025
Forbes magazine's list of the world's richest people in 2025 revealed that American businessman Elon Musk topped the list with a fortune estimated at approximately $342 billion. Musk topped the Forbes list for the first time since 2022, with his wealth increasing by approximately $147 billion in one year.
The number of billionaires in the world this year reached 3,028, an increase of 247 billionaires compared to last year, with a combined wealth of $16.1 trillion, an increase of nearly $2 trillion compared to last year.
The average billionaire's wealth currently stands at $5.3 billion, significantly more than the $200 million it would be in 2024, according to the report.
The United States had the largest number of billionaires, with 902, while China, including Hong Kong, had 516 billionaires, and India had 205 billionaires.
Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg came in second place with a total fortune of $216 billion, while Amazon founder Jeff Bezos came in third with a total fortune of $215 billion.
Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison came in fourth place with a fortune of $192 billion, while French billionaire Bernard Arnault came in fifth with a fortune of $178 billion, according to Forbes' rankings.
During 2024, the fortunes of six Arab billionaires increased by 8%, or $4.36 billion, bringing their combined wealth to $61 billion.
